The second day of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Russia began with a flower-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow’s Alexander Garden. After a moment of silence, the orchestra performed Kazakhstan’s national anthem, and the honor guard marched past the official delegation in a solemn procession. It is worth noting that more than 1.2 million people from Kazakhstan were called to the front during the war, about half of whom lost their lives. Over 500 Kazakh soldiers were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Later, the Head of State met with Valentina
Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia. President Tokayev
emphasized that he regards his visit as a pivotal event that brings the
strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries to a new
level. He also shared his impressions of the previous day’s conversation with
Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that their discussion lasted more than
two hours and covered a wide range of topics. In turn, Matviyenko highlighted
that Russia attaches great importance to President Tokayev’s state visit.
«I understand the importance and significance of parliamentary work and inter-parliamentary diplomacy. Indeed, this visit holds special importance in the history of our relations, as it elevates the strategic partnership and allied ties between our countries to a new level,» Tokayev said.
«Your
Excellency, esteemed President! It is a great honor for us to welcome you to
the Federation Council, the Upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament. On behalf
of all senate members, I would like to extend our warm greetings to you and
your distinguished delegation in the Chamber of Regions,» Matviyenko said.
