Paris 2024 Olympics: Kazakh athletes win four medals

Kazakh athlete Nariman Kurbanov won a silver medal at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The athlete successfully performed in the pommel horse exercises final. Notable, this is the first-ever medal for Kazakhstan in artistic gymnastics at the quadrennial competition.

 

«It’s hard to put these emotions into words. I was asked to calm down. When he started performing the pommel horse exercises, I just froze. He has won a silver medal at the Olympics; finally this race is over,» said Khusanzhan Kurbanov, Nariman Kurbanov’s father and personal coach.

 

In Paris, the silver medalist received great support. He was welcomed with a storm of applause at Kazakhstan’s Embassy in France.

 

«The Olympic Games are currently in full swing. Our main delegation is just beginning its fight for medals. I wish our team the best of luck in winning as many medals and achieving as many victories as possible at the Olympics. Alga, Kazakhstan!» said Nariman Kurbanov.

 

Kazakh boxer Nurbek Oralbay is also expected to win a medal. Oralbay, as well as track and field athlete Norah Jeruto, will compete for Olympic gold in the finals. Another medal in boxing is guaranteed by Nazym Kyzaibay, who is set to compete in the semifinals. It is noteworthy that the national team has four medals, including one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
