A large-scale renovation of railway stations is underway across Kazakhstan. By the end of September, 124 facilities nationwide will undergo modernization as part of a project launched on the instructions of the Head of State. One of the key reconstruction sites is the Almaty-1 railway station. Outdated engineering systems have already been dismantled, the platform has been upgraded, and temporary power supply has been provided at the facility. Modern technological equipment is also being delivered. The building, constructed in the 1970s, is set to regain its historic appearance. Natural stone is being used for finishing works. The project is currently 40% complete.
«A
total of 34 units of specialized equipment and more than 500 workers are
involved, with work being carried out in both day and night shifts. Once
completed, the facility will become a modern, comfortable and,
most importantly, safe railway station. Particular attention is also being paid
to passengers with reduced mobility, with additional facilities to be provided,»
said Yersultan Yerzhanov, chief expert at the Kazakh
Ministry of Transport.
