President Tokayev congratulates educators ahead of Teacher’s Day

Today, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated educators on the upcoming Teacher’s Day, underscoring the significance of the professional holiday. He noted that teachers are held in high esteem for their invaluable contribution to the nation’s prosperity. The government, in turn, is actively developing the education sector. Funding has tripled, 1,200 new schools have opened across the country, and another 150 were built under the Keleshek Mektepteri national project. A special law has also been adopted to raise the status of teachers. The profession is popular among young people. This year, more than 13,000 grants were allocated for teaching majors. President Tokayev reiterated that without attention to education and science, it is impossible to become a leading nation. He also highlighted the prospects of digitalization in the sector.

«Digital literacy must be instilled in children from their school years. Students should be able to use advanced technologies effectively in the learning process. This also applies to teachers: it is essential for educators to acquire modern skills. Artificial intelligence should be widely integrated into the education system. The transformation into a digital state cannot be achieved overnight. In fact, it requires the introduction of fundamentally new approaches, beginning with the school system. I am confident, dear teachers, that you will take an active role in fulfilling this important missionTokayev said.

The Head of State presented state awards to a number of educators — including schoolteachers and college and university instructors — in recognition of their significant contributions to education and outstanding service to the nation.
