The future of Kazakhstan’s semiconductor industry was the
focus of a forum held in Astana, highlighted by the creation of the country’s
first domestically produced chip. Experts emphasized the importance of training
specialists in digital design and chip verification. Scientist and chip
developer Nursultan Kabylkas has already trained a team and is ready to educate
another 500 engineers. He noted that once a business ecosystem is established,
Kazakhstan will be able to manufacture its own electronics and export locally
made chips. Looking ahead, there are plans to develop semiconductors for
supercomputers.
«For supercomputers and machine learning data processing,
processors are somewhat more complex — but we're moving in that direction as
well. From a commercial perspective, design hubs can be established in
Kazakhstan. These organizations bring together the necessary equipment and
experts skilled in microprocessor design. With such an ecosystem in place,
foreign companies could commission intellectual property (IP) development from
us,» Kabylkas said.
