At CyberLab of Astana IT University, an AI-powered function for detecting digital threats has been launched. The development of information technologies is accompanied by the emergence of new types of cyberattacks. In the laboratory, students are trained in «white hat hacking» - the legal penetration of systems such as smart cities, banks, transport, and other critical sectors to identify vulnerabilities and enhance their security. The new facility complements the university’s existing cyber range, enabling future specialists to gain hands-on experience during their studies and tackle current cybersecurity challenges.
«Together
with TSARKA, we have developed a cyber training ground. The main objective is
to create a platform where security and penetration systems can be tested. In
practice, no smart city infrastructure is designed with the expectation that it
will be hacked. The cyber training ground makes it possible to simulate
various scenarios, identify vulnerabilities, detect where and how information
leaks occur, and develop effective countermeasures,» noted Andrii
Biloshchytskyi, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Astana IT
University.
