Kazakhstan to allocate 6 billion tenge for national sports development

Kazakhstan will allocate six billion tenge for the development of national sports — nearly three times more than in previous years. This was announced by representatives of the relevant ministry at a meeting of the Mazhilis Committee. The meeting reviewed a draft law that provides for funding and the inclusion of national sports among the country’s priorities, alongside the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Notably, 11 national sports are officially registered in Kazakhstan, with around 700,000 people regularly practicing them. There are currently 17 clubs, 15 sports schools, and one national directorate operating across the country. According to experts, Kazakhstan successfully showcased the full diversity and uniqueness of these sports, considered a national treasure, at the World Nomad Games held in Astana.

«Just recently, the Mazhilis considered a bill on physical culture and sports, which designates national sports as a special category—priority sports. With the adoption of this bill, we have high expectations for further funding, development, and the advancement of national sports to a completely new, higher level,» noted Kazakh Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports Serik Zharasbayev.
