President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Arkady
Dvorkovich, the President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). The
Head of State commended the support FIDE provides to the Kazakhstan Chess
Federation, as well as to coaches and young athletes. The meeting also discussed
prospects for further cooperation. Arkady Dvorkovich spoke about the
Comprehensive Chess Development Plan adopted in Kazakhstan and highlighted the
record-breaking achievements of Kazakh chess players at FIDE competitions,
where they won the most medals. At the conclusion of the meeting, the President
awarded Arkady Dvorkovich the Dostyk Order of the second degree.
The Head of State also held
a meeting with young Kazakh medalists of the World Chess Championships. The
President emphasized that their victories bring glory to Kazakhstan on the
global stage and demonstrate the promising future of Kazakhstan’s chess school.
He encouraged the young chess players to set ambitious goals and wished them
success. At the end of the meeting, President Tokayev left a commemorative
signature on a chessboard.
