Togyzkumalak
(nine pellets) is gaining popularity. Soon, the Federation of the traditional
Kazakh intellectual game may appear on the African continent. Demonstration
games of togyzkumalak were held in the Nigerian state of Lagos, where the
steppe chess immediately captivated local residents. The Kazakh game shares
similarities with Ayo Olopon, a traditional African board game popular in
southwestern Nigeria. In both games, participants move stones or seeds from one
hole to another, and the goal is to collect as many as possible to win.
