Kazakhstan is intensifying efforts to train
professionals for the water sector, particularly increasing the number of
scholarships for industry-specific specialties — with over a thousand allocated
this year, nearly double the number from last year. This was announced by the
Kazakh Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation at a press conference in
Astana. At least 2,000 specialists will be needed in the coming years to
implement large-scale infrastructure projects and modernize hydraulic
structures across the country. Overall, interest in the profession is growing:
while just over 80 students completed internships at water-related enterprises
last year, this year the number has risen to 339. Professional retraining is
also a priority. Over the past two years, Kazakh specialists have taken part in
advanced training programs in the U.S., France, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Japan,
and China.
«An important step in this direction is
international cooperation. Under agreements between the Ministry of Water
Resources and Irrigation and the Chinese company Power China, Kazakh water
industry specialists are improving their qualifications in the neighboring
country. To date, 60 people have completed the courses. Currently, 31
specialists are undergoing training. By the end of the year, another 30 people
will go to educational courses in the neighboring country,» said Lyazzat
Dzhussipova, Director of the Scientific and Innovative Technologies Department
at the Kazakh Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
