A new Lu Ban workshop with five modern laboratories will open in Astana. The project is being implemented at the Eurasian National University jointly with Chinese partners and is aimed at training a new generation of specialists. The center will include laboratories for machine vision, humanoid robotics, drones, high-performance computing, and robotics. A personnel base has already been prepared for the launch. Fifteen university lecturers completed specialized training in Tianjin, where they studied data analysis, unmanned technologies, and the use of AI agents. The program included both theory and hands-on training at industrial enterprises. The facility has already been partially launched, with students working on applied projects such as waste sorting and plant condition analysis using algorithms. In the future, more than 1,200 students are expected to receive training through the workshop. According to the university, the development of IT specialists will strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the digital sphere.
«The main goal of our university is to equip students with skills in applying artificial intelligence across a wide range of fields. In other words, we will now focus on interdisciplinary research, involving both students who study AI as part of their major and those from other disciplines. Significant work was carried out at the university last year. More than 200 AI-related courses were incorporated into all educational programs, regardless of their field of study,» noted Gulmira Bekmanova, Vice-Rector for Digitalization, Eurasian National University.
A special international forum at ENU was dedicated to
the topic of introducing AI into the academic environment. Scientists note that
new technologies are already accelerating learning and scientific research.
However, at the same time, there is a growing need to preserve individuality
and critical thinking skills. According to experts, artificial intelligence
opens up more opportunities for students and teachers, but requires a balanced
approach to its use.
