CIS countries are streamlining national requirements for the transportation of radioactive materials and strengthening oversight. The Senate, the upper house of the Kazakh Parliament, approved a corresponding agreement developed to regulate the movement of radioactive cargo used for peaceful purposes. The document aims to prevent delays and ensure safety. It also emphasizes that cross-border shipments must be accompanied by permits from the authorized bodies of the exporting, transit, and destination countries, in accordance with their respective legislation.
«The document provides for measures aimed at protecting the population
and the environment, and also regulates emergency prevention issues. Overall,
we hope the law will contribute to strengthening cooperation between CIS
countries in this area,» said Senate Chairperson Maulen Ashimbayev.
