Kazakh President participates in international forum in Turkmenistan

The official visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Turkmenistan continued with his participation in an international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the philosopher and founder of Turkmen classical literature, Magtymguly Pyragy. He made a significant contribution to the development of culture, with a number of his works included into the Memory of the World international register by the decision of UNESCO. Furthermore, TURKSOY has declared 2024 as the Year of the Great Poet. According to the Head of State, the humanistic ideas reflected in Magtymguly Pyragy 's works have become even more relevant today, amid numerous global challenges. President Tokayev also emphasized that the steady development of Turkmenistan, alongside large-scale socio-economic and political reforms, will contribute to strengthening the country’s centuries-old statehood.

«Neutral Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to enhancing security and stability in the world, promoting diverse cooperation in Central Asia and the Caspian region. Under Turkmenistan’s initiative, the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. The achievements of your country have become a testament to the fulfillment of Magtymguly Pyragy’s cherished dream of building a strong Turkmen state,» said Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

President Tokayev also touched upon the events organized in Kazakhstan to mark the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy. These events will contribute to the development of cultural diplomacy and promote the great philosopher’s legacy. Tokayev emphasized that Magtymguly’s works share many similarities with those of Abai, particularly in their humanistic ideas and their concern for the future of their peoples.

Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are united by common spiritual roots, a shared history, and centuries-old bonds of friendship.
