A fusion of painting and music - residents and visitors of
the Kazakh capital can now explore the world of art created by renowned
Lithuanian artist and composer Mikalojus Čiurlionis. A unique exhibition
marking the 150th anniversary of his birth has opened at the National Museum. Čiurlionis
left behind a rich artistic legacy, having created over 300 paintings and
graphic works, along with around 200 musical compositions. The exhibition in
Astana features reproductions of selected paintings, presented alongside the
composer’s own music. Among the works on display are Creation of the World, Sonata
of the Sun, and Sonata of the Sea. According to the Lithuanian diplomatic
mission in Kazakhstan, cultural events celebrating the anniversary are taking
place in many countries with which Lithuania maintains cultural and
humanitarian ties - including Kazakhstan.
«One of the positive elements of Kazakhstan-Lithuania
relations lies in the cultural sphere. We offer people in Kazakhstan the
opportunity to discover Lithuanian culture and learn about our outstanding
artists. This is a major part of the embassy's work - ensuring that various
cultural projects, including exhibitions, concerts, and other events, are
organized,» said Egidijus Navikas, Lithuanian Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
