Kazakh Foreign Ministry issues statement on incidents involving tankers in Black Sea

The Kazakh Foreign Ministry has issued an official statement regarding incidents involving tankers in the Black Sea. The ministry expressed serious concern over drone attacks on three tankers on January 13, which were en route to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal. A ministry spokesperson said immediate meetings were held with ambassadors of several European countries, as well as with representatives of the United States and other international partners. The parties emphasized the need for effective measures to ensure the security of maritime hydrocarbon transportation. Kazakhstan is not a party to any armed conflict, makes a significant contribution to global and European energy security, and ensures uninterrupted supplies in accordance with international standards. All tankers had the necessary permits and identification systems. The ministry called on partners to jointly develop measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
