The longest bridge in Kazakhstan and one of the country’s largest road infrastructure projects is preparing for commissioning. Advisor and Press Secretary of the Kazakh President Berik Uali announced this on his social media account. It is worth noting that the bridge is being built in the east of the country and will not only connect the banks of the Bukhtarma reservoir but also link the East Kazakhstan and Abai regions. This means that the distance that previously took hours to travel will soon be covered in just a few minutes. Residents view this as a truly historic event, made possible by the initiative of the Head of State and government support. According to economists, this engineering project will have the maximum possible multiplier effect, particularly on the region’s socio-economic development.
«At 1,316 meters, this
will be the longest bridge in Kazakhstan, with 21 supports and 20 spans, making
it a major, robust structure. The bridge is set to open for traffic in late
October, between the 20th and 25th, with full commissioning by the end of the
year. As previously noted, it will link the East Kazakhstan and Abai regions,
establishing it as a key strategic project,» said
Lyazzat
Stamgaziyeva, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Transport.
