A book dedicated to the contribution and heroism of Kazakh
soldiers and home front workers in the victory has been presented in Astana.
Focusing on lesser-known chapters of the war, the publication features rare and
previously unpublished documents and photographs. Notably, materials from the
Archive of the President of Kazakhstan, along with information gathered from
regional repositories, national libraries, and archives in Uzbekistan and
Russia, were used. The book contains more than 170 photographs, 130 historical
documents, and over 30 newspaper clippings.
«The first section covers the formation of national military
units. The second section focuses on Kazakhstan as the arsenal of the front.
The third section, one of the most fascinating, is dedicated to daily life on
the home front and the people of Kazakhstan,» said Yevgeniya Chilikova, senior
research fellow at the Archive of the President of Kazakhstan.
