Kazakh Tazy dog breed receives patent

The Kazakh Tazy has officially received a patent recognizing the uniqueness of the dog breed. The National Institute of Intellectual Property issued the document based on the conclusion of the state commission of the country’s Ministry of Agriculture. The patent holder is the Kansonar Association of hunters, engaged in preserving national dog breeds. They are now responsible for the conservation, breeding, and promotion of the Tobet and Tazy breeds. The population of the latter has been restored in regional kennels across the country. The breed is well adapted to harsh natural and climatic conditions. In 2023, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law placing the Kazakh dog breeds under state protection. Last year, the International Canine Federation (FCI) granted preliminary recognition to the Kazakh Tazy as an official dog breed and designated Kazakhstan as its standard holder.
