Vibrant emotions and a festive
New Year atmosphere: such is the lasting impression left by the Astana Opera
theatre troupe on Dubai’s cultural scene. Over four days, Kazakh artists shared
their craft with an international audience. The program commenced with George
Frideric Handel’s renowned oratorio, ‘Messiah.’ Subsequently, for the following
three days, the Astana Opera Ballet and Symphony Orchestra brought genuine
winter magic to the stage of Dubai Opera with the famous ballet, ‘The
Nutcracker.’

For over two centuries, the New
Year’s fairy tale of the triumph of good over evil has captivated audiences. At
all times, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet has stood out as one of the
world’s most famous and beloved works. The Astana Opera Theater first presented
‘The Nutcracker’ in the renowned production by Yuri Grigorovich in 2014. Today,
this performance stands as one of its signature productions, attracting
thousands of spectators to the Dubai Opera.
It is noteworthy that over three days, 10,000
spectators visited Dubai Opera to witness the famous ballet ‘The Nutcracker’. The
performance was a resounding success, with tickets sold out months in advance.
Audience included not only residents of the United Arab Emirates but also
guests from other countries who came to see the ballet.
“I really enjoyed the choreography. I
think the dancing is exquisite. The costumes are very beautiful. The lighting
really compliments the dancing and the costumes. The orchestra is beautifully acoustic,”
Terence Starr, a resident from London, said.
“I’ve seen the Nutcracker previously, but I
really think, it’s a really nice good-quality show. So, I am really
impressed with the choreography and the stage set up, really nice,” Reka
Koszta, a Dubai resident, shared.
The experienced soloists and young artists of
the Astana Opera Theater demonstrated the symbiosis of energy, refined
movements, and high technique on the stage of Dubai Opera.
“Thanks to the audience’s support and their enthusiasm,
we feel truly inspired. When our audience supports us in this way, we
respond by putting all our skills into making our performance even better. The
reception we received gave us tremendous strength; our team couldn't help but
show their emotions—everyone was smiling and rejoicing,” Dias Kurmangazy,
Astana Opera’s ballet soloist, said.
The magical melodies of Tchaikovsky, performed
by the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Abzal
Mukhitdin, immersed the audience in the anticipation of New Year
miracles.
