Aktau named cultural capital of Turkic World for 2025

Aktau has been chosen as the cultural capital of the Turkic World in 2025. The regional center of the Mangystau region has taken up the baton from Anau, Turkmenistan. Previously, two Kazakh cities were honored with this status - Astana in 2012 and Turkistan in 2017. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for March, when forums, scientific conferences, concerts, international festivals, exhibitions, and meetings featuring artists and delegations from Turkic-speaking countries will commence. The program was discussed at the 41st meeting of the member states of TURKSOY in Ashgabat.

«This is a very high status. Aktau fully deserves it and has the moral right to serve as the cultural capital of the Turkic world. Aktau is one of Kazakhstan's spiritual metropolises, not only within the country but across the entire Turkic world. All the events we have planned for 2025 will take place in Aktau. I believe Aktau will be represented with dignity in the Turkic world, and we will continue to promote it as one of the spiritual centers of the Turkic world,» noted Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev.
