Kazakh President congratulates media workers

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with media workers ahead of their professional holiday. During the meeting, he noted that media can be rightfully named the voice of the nation, and journalists are the heralds of reliable information. The Head of State emphasized the importance of journalism, noting that media workers serve as a link between the authorities and the public, explaining the essence of reforms to the population. He added that this is an important and challenging work not everyone can handle.

«We must become a leading nation and join the ranks of the world’s foremost countries. Only by working together and uniting our efforts can we achieve our goals. The journalistic community contributes to this constructive endeavour. You are one of the driving forces behind the ongoing reforms. Ultimately, both the state and journalists work for the good of the country. Our people are united by a common goal - building a Just, Safe, Civilized, and Clean Kazakhstan,» Tokayev said.

According to the President, the world is entering a new historical era amid rapid digital transformation. He placed particular emphasis on the development of artificial intelligence, which is becoming a key factor in the competitiveness of nations. President Tokayev underscored that moving forward requires the active implementation of innovations across all sectors. Artificial intelligence also brings new demands to the work of journalists, and these changes open up new opportunities. Of particular importance and value are the preservation of national unity, as well as peace and stability.

«I am confident that our journalists are capable of providing in-depth analysis and assessing any event through the lens of national interests. I read a lot and am well acquainted with your publications. Today, you work across a wide range of fields. Many talented professionals have earned broad recognition. Media representatives are successfully working in the Parliament and maslikhats (local representative bodies), as well as in central and regional government bodies. This attests to the fact that journalism is a truly universal profession,» Tokayev added.

President Tokayev noted that words hold tremendous power - they can both reconcile warring nations or sow discord. Therefore, it is important to be aware of the impact of  every word spoken. In this context, the media plays a special role, and journalists are entrusted with a high mission. They play a key role in strengthening peace and unity. Veteran media professionals were also invited to the Akorda presidential palace, and, following tradition, the President presented state awards, prizes, and grants, and expressed gratitude to several representatives of Kazakhstan’s media.
