Events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Nurgisa
Tlendiyev are planned this year at UNESCO. The anniversary of the renowned
Kazakh composer has been included in the calendar of memorable dates recognized
by the international organization. The decision was made during the 42nd
session of the UNESCO General Conference. This autumn, a concert will be held
at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, featuring the musical legacy of the
outstanding Kazakh composer and musician. Notably, Nurgisa Tlendiyev composed over
500 works across various genres.
«With the support of the Almaty city mayor’s office and the
International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, an exhibition dedicated
to the legacy of Nurgisa Tlendiyev is planned. The exhibition will introduce
the UNESCO audience, as well as our compatriots living here, to the life
journey of Nurgisa Tlendiyev and to the deep connection between our traditional
music, folklore, and modern music - a connection that Nurgisa Tlendiyev helped
to build,» noted Kazakhstan’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Askar Abdrakhmanov.
