State Counsellor Erlan
Karin met with the leaders of six political
party factions in the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament. He
highlighted the key initiatives outlined in President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state-of-the-nation address. In turn, the faction leaders spoke
about their
planned work on legislative support and oversight of the implementation of the
tasks set by the Head of State. Parliamentary reform was also discussed. Karin emphasized
that the President’s new political initiative is aimed at further strengthening
the political system. The faction leaders supported
President Tokayev’s
proposal and expressed their readiness to take an active part in the upcoming
public discussion.
