Astana FIDA Drone Soccer Championship 2026 was held in the Kazakh capital. More than 20 teams from across the country took part in the competition. For the winners, it is a chance to qualify for the Drone Soccer World Championship in South Korea, where the sport originated in 2017. Since then, it has gained popularity in more than 30 countries. Kazakh school students are already among the strongest participants in international drone soccer tournaments. According to experts, the development of this sport will help train a new generation of engineers and IT specialists, and the discipline is expected to be more actively integrated into the educational environment.
«Drone soccer serves as an accessible starting point for
school students, allowing them to begin their engineering journey as pilots and
engineers in this field. Since drones are enclosed
within a protective spherical frame, they are difficult for beginners to
damage, making it easier to learn basic drone piloting skills that will be
useful in the future. This is particularly important as drones are increasingly
being integrated into all areas of life,» noted
Alikhan Ryspay, Director of the Kazakhstan Drone Soccer Association.
