In Astana,
Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov presented state awards to the Paralympic
medalists for their high sports achievements on behalf of President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev, congratulating the athletes on their outstanding results. He noted
that this year, Kazakhstan’s Paralympic team set a historic record by winning
nine medals, including two gold, three silver, and four bronze. In accordance
with the Decree of the Head of State, David Degtyarev, the country’s first
two-time Para powerlifting champion, was awarded the Barys order 1st class
(Order of the Leopard). The first gold medalist in Para judo, Akmaral Nauatbek,
was awarded the Barys order 3rd class. The silver medalists, shooter Yerkin
Gabbasov, swimmer Nurdaulet Zhumagali, and judoka Yergali Shamei, received Parasat
order (Order of Nobility). The bronze medalists, Dastan Mukashbekov, Zarina Raifova,
Dayana Fedossova, and Zhurkamyrza Shukurbekov, were awarded Kurmet order (Order
of Honour). The national team’s head coaches, as well as the personal coaches
of the athletes, were also honored with high awards.
«Representing our
country at the Paralympic Games in Paris was a great pride for me. We worked
hard to win a medal at the Paralympics, and our coaches put all skills into our
victory. I am glad to have become the first two-time Paralympic champion of our
country. I was able to contribute to strengthening Kazakhstan’s image on the
international stage. We still have a lot of work ahead to achieve new victories,»
said David Degtyarev, a
two-time Paralympic champion.
