Representatives from the foreign ministries of the Kyrgyz
Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan gathered in Astana to
discuss the development and implementation of policies on transboundary water
management. They took part in a seminar on advancing water diplomacy in the
region, organized by the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development «KazAID.»
During the event, participants exchanged experiences, discussed the role of
water resources in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and explored
cross-border cooperation to support the Aral Sea.
«The main topic of the seminar was water diplomacy and the
role of water resources in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. This is
one of the areas of our country’s foreign policy. The seminar was specifically
devoted to these issues,» said Armanai Kabdeshova, KazAID press secretary.
