“Cooperation based on mutual respect for the national interests is the basis for sustainable development of the CIS countries,” Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev announced at a meeting of the Council of Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states in Samarkand. According to him, this is the principle that creates conditions for economic growth and the well-being of citizens of all CIS countries. Ashimbayev also outlined the priority areas of work to strengthen interaction and deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
“A wide range of issues is being raised at the Council meeting today. They cover the fields of science, education, social policy and human rights, culture, tourism and other current areas of cooperation between our countries. It is very important to consistently continue our joint work in the pragmatic and trusting manner. A comprehensive cooperation based on mutual respect for the national interests of our countries is the basis for the long-term sustainable development in the Commonwealth,” Ashimbayev said.
In particular, the activities of the Interparliamentary Assembly include monitoring the implementation of political reforms in the CIS countries. This year, the course of the national referendum in Kazakhstan was monitored by international observers of this organization and parliamentarians of the CIS states. The senator urged them to continue this work at the upcoming presidential election, which will be held on November 20.
