Kazakhstan ranks among the leaders in Central
Asia in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Most current
projects are concentrated in GovTech, FinTech, and Smart City. However, now it
is important to expand AI integration into other areas. As President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted, Kazakhstan aims to become one of the largest
digital hubs in the Eurasian space. Digital transformation and the use of
neural networks were key topics at the GenAI Day Conference in Astana. The
expert platform brought together leading global companies and analysts in cloud
technologies and machine learning. Specialists from Kazakhstan, Poland, and
Germany shared examples of successful AI implementation in the public and
private sectors.
«What tasks can AI help solve? For instance,
document processing. Some documents contain handwritten data that must be
digitized. Machine learning can be used to extract and store this data in a
knowledge base. Additionally, generative AI can be applied for customer service
through chatbots,» explained GenAI Day organizer Nurbek Sadykov.
«What we currently have in terms of AI
development and implementation includes biometrics and AI-based scoring systems,
particularly in credit scoring. At this stage, AI is mainly a tool – something
you can use for help in your work,» added Alexey Nikonorov, head of the
monetization and data unit at Kazakhstan’s First Credit Bureau.
