Oxford University center opens in Uzbekistan

The University of Oxford is expanding its cooperation with Uzbekistan. An academic platform Oxford Hub has opened in Tashkent, marking a significant event not only for the country’s higher education system but also for Central Asia. The center of the UK’s oldest university was launched at the New Uzbekistan University. According to experts, the implementation of the project will elevate scientific and educational cooperation to a new level, ensuring the systematic integration of Uzbek universities into the global academic space, fostering joint research, developing educational programs, promoting academic exchanges, and providing consultations on the advancement of scientific infrastructure.

«This hub opens up an opportunity for all universities and for the entire education system to gain access to leading experts and professors from the University of Oxford and other universities. With the help of the Oxford Hub, we can establish not only academic mobility for students and professors, but also attract leading scholars in this field so that they can study and present these reforms abroad,» noted Bahodir Ahmedov, Vice-Rector of the New Uzbekistan University.

«I think immediately it creates the opportunity and the encouragement for individual researchers, lecturers, and teachers, developments and relationships between the university here and various departments in the University of Oxford, and perhaps the University itself, but more likely the various departments you have here,» said John Alderdice, the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy to Central Asia and Azerbaijan.
