President of Kazakhstan presents state awards to cultural figures

Three domestic theaters will be granted academic status - the Kazakh Drama Theater named after Biken Rimova, the Almaty State Puppet Theatre, and the Philharmonic named after Garifulla Kurmangaliyev. This recognition will elevate the creative teams to a new level. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced this during a ceremony of presenting awards to cultural and art figures. The Head of State congratulated them ahead of their professional holiday and expressed his gratitude for their invaluable contribution to enriching the nation’s spiritual life and preserving its identity.

«Our unique culture is gaining global recognition. Talented Kazakh musicians are performing with distinction on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. Kazakh filmmakers participating in various international festivals are receiving high praise from experts. The World Nomad Games were successfully held in Astana, and the city of Aktau was declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world. Additionally, efforts have begun to digitize our spiritual heritage. Recently, over 1,500 kuis, songs, and outstanding examples of our folklore heritage have been uploaded to the most popular international platforms. The promotion of national art is also being carried out through the creative industry,» Tokayev noted.

Particular attention is being given to the development of the arts sector in Kazakhstan. Last year, 45 new cultural facilities were built, and this work will continue, the Head of State emphasized. He also underscored the country’s cooperation with UNESCO, noting that efforts are underway to list historical and cultural monuments as World Heritage Sites. In addition, work has begun to include documentary heritage in the Memory of the World Register.

«It is important to fully utilize the potential of museums in scientific research and the study of our historical and cultural monuments. The ancient settlement of Saraishyk, which requires reconstruction, is of particular interest to researchers. The initiative to create a unified digital platform for the historical and cultural heritage of Central Asian countries is promising,» Tokayev added.

The Head of State proposed organizing a special competition among young, talented architects, with the winners receiving the National Award. This initiative will enable young professionals to reflect the uniqueness and spirit of the national culture in their projects. Regarding the reconstruction and support of theaters, President Tokayev called on domestic entrepreneurs and philanthropists to get involved. During the event, he presented state awards to cultural figures of Kazakhstan for their outstanding contributions and achievements.
