More than 9,000 Kazakh citizens are currently in the Middle East. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the largest number — over 4,000 people — are in the United Arab Emirates. The ministry’s spokesperson, Yerlan Zhetybayev, said these include both tourists and citizens permanently residing in these countries. There have been no reports of casualties or injuries among Kazakh nationals. The country’s diplomatic missions across the region are operating around the clock. The safe return of citizens remains a top priority for the state. At the same time, Zhetybayev also stated that Kazakhstan is ready to evacuate citizens of other countries as well.
«We have not received any such requests so far, but if
they do come and the appropriate conditions are in place, we will be ready to
assist our neighboring and fraternal states. At the moment, our main focus is
on repatriating our own citizens. All resources have been mobilized for this
purpose,»
Zhetybayev said.
