The third anniversary of the opening of Arkadag, Turkmenistan’s first smart city, was marked with large-scale celebrations. An international forum and public festivities were held to commemorate the occasion. Today, Arkadag is considered one of the country’s most advanced cities, featuring environmentally friendly public transport, smart parking systems, solar panels, wind turbines, high-speed internet, and 5G connectivity. The city’s development project is set to continue through 2052.
«I’ve had pleasure of watching the construction as
I’ve been here for the last six years, as this city began to grow and when the
first stage was finished, they began the second stage. And the construction
keeps going on. It’s a beautiful city,» noted William Leaf, Head of the OSCE Centre in
Ashgabat.
