Ahead of the new academic year, more than 400 school fairs have opened in
Turkmenistan. In the capital, Ashgabat, nearly 60 markets are operating, offering
everything students may need for their studies - from school uniforms and
backpacks to stationery. The range of goods caters to learners of all ages,
from first-graders to university students.
«This year, my son is starting first grade. Of course,
we’re a bit anxious - it’s a big step from kindergarten to school. That’s why
we came to the fair to buy everything he needs. Honestly, we didn’t even know
where to start - there’s just so much!» said Ashgabat city resident
Tavus Bekiyeva.
The textile products presented
at the school fairs are made by local factories from breathable natural
fabrics. The school uniform for girls in Turkmenistan’s secondary schools
traditionally consists of a green dress, a white apron, and a cap, while for boys
it is a black suit with a white shirt. The markets will remain open until
September 5.
«This year, we have new subjects - drafting and law, so I came to buy
special notebooks, pencils, and rulers. Actually, my favorite subject is
physics, but I hope drafting and law will be interesting too,» shared Ashgabat city resident Kassym Kadyrov.
