High-altitude mural at Shymbulak marks UN’s 80th anniversary

At an altitude of over 3,000 meters in Shymbulak, the world’s largest high-altitude mural was unveiled to mark the 80th anniversary of the United Nations (UN). The artwork, measuring 36 by six meters, was created by Kazakh artist Adil Aubekerov. The composition follows the principle of kurak korpe (patchwork quilt) and reflects motifs of nomadic culture. The ornament features Tamgaly petroglyphs, solar symbols, and mythical creatures. The project brings together Kazakh heritage and global ideas of sustainable development.
