Olympic bronze medalists honored at airport in Almaty

Kazakh athletes, winners of the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo were solemnly greeted at the airport of Almaty. Among the returnees are boxers Kamshybek Konkabayev, Saken Bibossynov and Sofya Berultseva. The national team of Kazakhstan brought the country eight bronze medals.

“It’s the first time karate was included in the Olympics as a sport. We have prepared well. Of course, we would be very happy, if our late coach Zhastalap aga was here. We did our best. For our sport. For the entire federation. I dedicate this medal to my coach,” shared Berultseva.

“My goal was to return to the country with a gold medal. Of course, there is a slight regret. But this is my victory, the victory in big sport. If the Almighty wishes, I will please the country with victories more than once. I will do my best to justify the trust of Kazakh residents and I will strive for new achievements,” said Bibossynov.

“I am happy to come back to my homeland. I am happy with this warm greeting. I won’t stop there and will keep delighting my compatriots. All our guys gave everything they got. With all heart. They did their best,” added Konkabayev.
