The first Kazakh woman to conquer
Everest has made history with her achievement. As part of the Kazakh Everest
Team, skyrunner athlete Anar Burasheva, along with legendary Kazakh climber
Maksut Zhumayev, climbed the world’s highest mountain peak, reaching the height
of 8,848 meters above sea level and hoisting the national flag of Kazakhstan.
The ascent for the Kazakh team took five days, from May 7th to May12th. Due to
challenging weather conditions, including storms and blizzards at an altitude
of 8,000 meters, most expeditions had to turn back. Only climbers from five
countries reached the peak, including Kazakh alpinists. They dedicated their
ascent to the war heroes Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev, Aliya Moldagulova, and
Sagadat Nurmagambetov, whose 100th anniversary is celebrated this year.
