“Winning an Olympic medal is my
goal and dream.” This was stated by the world champion in freestyle wrestling
Rizabek Aitmukhan in an interview with the Silk Way
TV Сhannel. Last month, the athlete became the first Kazakh world champion in freestyle
wrestling in the 92-kilogram weight category after he won the gold in the UWW
World Championships 2023 in Belgrade. According to Aitmukhan, this weight
category is not included in the Olympic program. Thus, he will fight in the
97-kilogram weight category to take part in the Olympics. It should be noted
that earlier this year Rizabek Aitmukhan also won gold at the sixth Summer
Wrestling Spartakiad of Kazakhstan in Almaty, then a silver medal at the Senior
Asian Championships in Astana as well as at the U20 World Championships in
Amman.
“It is impossible to describe the feelings you experience when you win a gold medal and when you are welcomed back home. I managed to win the first gold medal in the history of independent Kazakhstan at the World Wrestling Championship. Now I am planning to gain weight to take part in the Olympic Games. In order to get a coveted ticket, I first need to become the champion of Kazakhstan, of course, I will participate in the competition and do my utmost for this. I also need to take part in the Asian Championships, where I will fight for the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Games,” shared Aitmukhan.
