Kazakh scientists have developed a new variety of wheat that ripens in a very short time and is drought resistant. It is also notable for its high yield - 35 centners per hectare. At the same time, employees of the Shortandy district research and production center have already bred over 30 types of wheat. They are now covering 70% of the region’s fields.
“It is of a mid-season ripening type. That is, this variety ripens in 90-95 days. It is resistant to drought and disease, brown rust,” said Adilkhan Babkenov, head of wheat breeding department.
