A new IT town has been launched in the Fergana region of
Uzbekistan. Equipped with modern infrastructure, the center is dedicated to
training specialists in information technology. In this unique educational
complex, up to 1,500 young people can learn the most in-demand professions,
including programming, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and
robotics, as well as study foreign languages. The project cost amounted to
approximately $400,000, with additional funding allocated for the construction
of a development support space known as the START-UP GARAGE.
«Children are currently attending a two-month computer
literacy course. Next, we plan to teach them the basics of programming. This
will be followed by six-month courses tailored to their interests, including
robotics, game development, website creation, or mobile app development. The
final stage will involve two months of work on real-world projects, where the
most successful participants will have the opportunity not only to apply their
knowledge but also to begin earning an income,» said educator Anvarjon Uktamov.
Young people will not only be able to study but also
exchange experiences in the coworking zone. The work environment has been
designed to be as convenient and comfortable as possible.
«My peers and I can earn from $500 on freelance projects —
it all depends on the complexity of the task. Freelancing offers freedom: a
flexible schedule and the ability to manage your own time. The key is to meet
deadlines. All you need is a computer and internet access,» said Intizor
Botirova.
In 2024, the volume of information services in the Fergana
region exceeded $46 million. The number of IT Park residents grew to 106, with
24 companies engaged in exporting information technology. Additionally, nearly
28,000 young people received IT education as part of the One Million Uzbek
Coders project. Experts say the opening of the new IT town will serve as a
catalyst for further growth and expansion of these figures. Similar complexes
are also planned for construction in other cities and districts across
Uzbekistan.
