Medalists of 2025 Asian Winter Games return to Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s winners and medalists of the Asian Winter Games (AWG) in Harbin are returning home. Their family members, coaches, and fans welcomed them at Almaty Airport. Among the first athletes to arrive from China was Sherzod Khashirbayev, who, alongside his partner Roman Ivanov, won a historic gold medal in freestyle acrobatics in synchronized jumps. Other medalists on the same flight included freestyle skiers Ayana Zholdas, Assylkhan Assan, and Ardana Makhanova, as well as speed skaters Kristina Silaeva and Yevgeny Koshkin.

«The next goal is to earn an Olympic license and conquer the Games. The competition was strong, as the Chinese team is a leader in this sport. Among them was Olympic champion Qi Guangpu, and it was a great honor for me to compete against him and win gold in synchronized jumps,» said Sherzod Khashirbayev, champion of the 2025 Asian Winter Games.

«I’m back home and will take some time to rest and recover. In a week, we have the next stage of the World Cup, so I’ll be preparing for that. We’ll also compete in a few more tournaments, including the World Championships, followed by intense summer training as we begin preparing for the Olympic Games - that’s the most important and serious event. We’ll be fully focused on that,» said Yevgeny Koshkin, silver medalist of the 2025 Asian Winter Games.

As of today, Team Kazakhstan has won 18 medals at the Asian Winter Games, including three gold, eight silver, and seven bronze. Notably, the country’s gold medals were secured by the men’s freestyle acrobatics and short track teams, as well as biathlete Vladislav Kireyev.
