Law on Alatau City special legal regime recognized as constitutional

The Law on the special legal regime of the city of Alatau has been recognized as constitutional following a review by the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan. The document was considered upon the request of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The law is being adopted to establish a new center of business activity, investment, and innovation in the country. According to the document, this objective aligns with the Preamble of the Constitution, which reflects the desire of the people of Kazakhstan to take a worthy place in the international community. The Constitutional Court emphasizes that the supremacy of the Basic Law over the law on the special legal regime of Alatau City remains in force. At the same time, it does not repeal or amend the principles of the Constitution. All its provisions remain binding and must be strictly observed both in the drafting of new legal acts and in the work of the city authorities, as well as in their interaction with state institutions.
