Kazakhstan’s beef cattle industry continues to demonstrate steady growth, with the Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle breed (Qazaq Aqbas) regarded as one of the industry’s key achievements. Over the past decade, its population has increased nearly tenfold to approximately 700,000–800,000 head. According to experts, this growth has been driven by government support, modern breeding methods, and the adoption of new technologies. Qazaq Aqbas is experiencing a new phase of active development and remains the most numerous beef cattle breed in Kazakhstan. Owing to the quality of its meat, it is attracting growing interest from international partners. Demand extends beyond the animals themselves to their genetic material, with interest coming from Russia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The decades-long nationwide breeding efforts and the breed’s growing international recognition were highlighted during the presentation of the book «Qazaq Aqbas: A National Treasure» in Astana. Experts note that the publication, released to mark the breed’s 75th anniversary, is not only a scientific work but also a tribute to the centuries-old traditions of Kazakh livestock farming.
«Within
the Kazakh Whiteheaded Breed Chamber, we have signed agreements and have been
working with the Canadian company White Valley for the past seven years. We
have implemented more than a dozen advanced technologies on farms to identify
and select the best Kazakh Whiteheaded breeding bulls. In terms of residual
feed intake, the Kazakh Whiteheaded breed is among the world’s top five cattle
breeds. In addition, two Kazakh Whiteheaded bulls are currently ranked among
the world’s top 150 breeding bulls,» said Kuanysh Suleimenov, independent board member of
the Kazakh Whiteheaded Breed National Chamber.
