President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
received Chairman of Kazatomprom National Atomic Company Meirzhan Yussupov, who reported on ongoing efforts to expand
Kazakhstan’s
mineral resource base. Geological exploration is currently underway at six
sites covering over 1,000 square kilometers, with work at two of them launched this year. It is part of the company’s plan to further strengthen
Kazakhstan’s
position in the global nuclear industry amid a projected global uranium
shortage, driven by the rapid development of AI technologies, increased energy
consumption by data centers, and the rapid construction of new nuclear
reactors. Kazatomprom also plans to expand its production of rare and rare
earth metals. The company’s
market capitalization reached a historic high of over $14 billion in September.
Following the meeting, the President gave a number of instructions.
