Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan sign agreements worth $350 million

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have signed 76 documents worth over $350 million during the fourth Interregional Forum in Samarkand. Among them is a practical action plan to accelerate the implementation of agreements reached at high-level meetings. It envisages the launch of joint production facilities in energy, mining, and geology. Overall, within the industrial cooperation, the countries intend to implement 74 projects with an investment volume of $3.4 billion. Special attention was given to the development of transport and logistics potential. More than half of Uzbekistan's total trade passes through Kazakhstan in transit. Passenger transportation is also well-developed, represented by 18 routes across all types of transport, indicating potential for further deepening of business ties, which are the foundation for the growth of mutual trade. The countries have established a positive dynamic in this regard, with trade reaching $2.5 billion in the first eight months of the year. Moreover, Kazakhstan is ready to increase exports of 40 types of goods by $550 million.

«This is primarily facilitated by the trustful political dialogue between the heads of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Currently, we face a large-scale task of increasing trade turnover up to $10 billion, with interregional relations playing a special role in this,» noted Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
