Kazakhstan to receive 11 billion cubic meters of water from Central Asian countries in 2025

There will be no water shortage in Kazakhstan, as reported by the relevant ministry. Next year, the country will receive about 11 billion cubic meters of water from Central Asian states. The corresponding agreement was reached at the 87th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) in Ashgabat.

«By April 1, 11 billion cubic meters of water is expected to be delivered to the Shardara reservoir, which will enable the accumulation of the necessary water volume for the 2025 irrigation season in the southern part of the country. Additionally, the meeting participants approved forecast schedules for reservoir operation modes in the Syr Darya and Amu Darya river basins, as well as water supply limits for Central Asian countries for the 2024-2025 autumn-winter period,» noted Yerbolat Pernekhan, chief expert at the department of the Kazakh Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
