One of the German companies plans
to invest $700 million in lithium mining in two fields of Kazakhstan, the
Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development reported. According to the
office, this is the first German company, which will be engaged in the
exploration and production of rare earth metals in the country. It should be
noted that Chinese enterprises are already operating in this sector. Companies
from Canada and South Korea also show great interest in domestic raw materials.
New projects for the development of rare earth metals will have to be implemented
according to UN standards. Kazakhstan is already discussing the corresponding
possibility with the United Nations. These requirements will apply to mining
projects in addition to existing domestic standards.
