A modern container hub
is currently under construction at the port of Aktau. Experts anticipate that
this project will strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in the global logistics
network and significantly enhance the capacity of its transport and logistics
sector. Site preparation for the 24-hectare area is complete, with over 100
specialized machines operating in two shifts. The hub is set to boost container
transport along the Trans-Caspian route and redirect some of the transit cargo.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for the transformation of
Kazakhstan’s seaports to establish them as key logistics hubs in the Caspian Sea
region.
«The project will create a modern
infrastructure that will provide a full range of services for container cargo
processing and shipment in various directions through the port of Aktau. Upon
completion, the seaport’s container handling capacity will reach 300,000 twenty-foot
equivalent units (TEU) per year,» said Kairat Kaliolla, chief manager of the
transport logistics department at the Aktau Sea Trade Port.
