Kazakhstan to expand sown area to 24 million hectares

Kazakhstan is actively preparing for the spring sowing campaign. The southern regions, which begin fieldwork earlier, have already started planting. This year, around 24 million hectares of agricultural land are planned to be sown across the country, half of which is allocated to wheat. At the same time, crop diversification continues. For example, corn planting is increasing, while rice cultivation areas are decreasing by 20,000 hectares compared to last year. During the peak work period, farmers receive state support. In particular, diesel fuel is provided at 15% below the market price. Additionally, under the Ken Dala program, funding of 750 billion tenge has been provided. More than 3,000 farms have already received preferential loans.

«Lending began in October 2025. This enabled farmers to purchase seeds and equipment in advance and prepare for the spring sowing campaign. As a result, the sowing season has commenced on schedule, which is expected to have a positive impact on crop yields noted Yersaiyn Dossymbetov, head of the department at the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.
