Kazakhstan’s economy grows 4% in first nine months of year

Kazakhstan’s economy grew by four percent in the first nine months of 2024. This figure was achieved through the development of non-oil sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, construction, and trade. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov noted that this growth is a result of diversification. The outcomes of the country’s socio-economic development for the first three quarters were announced at the Government’s meeting. Growth dynamics across all major macroeconomic indicators were observed in the Almaty, Karagandy, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, Turkistan, and East Kazakhstan regions, as well as in Astana and Shymkent. Foreign trade turnover exceeded $91 billion, with exports of domestic goods accounting for the majority. Investments increased in non-resource sectors, with those in communications showing a nearly 82 percent rise, education growing by 80 percent, and transportation increasing by slightly over 31 percent.

«I am setting the task of ensuring the achievement of the target indicator for fixed capital investment by year-end. Special emphasis should be placed on the manufacturing sector, agriculture, transport, logistics, as well as on areas such as water and electricity supply. The Foreign Ministry needs to intensify efforts to attract investments. We need to strengthen support for entrepreneurial initiatives aimed at renewing fixed assets, expanding the product range, and increasing the added value of products,» Bektenov said.
