Astana hosts Digital Bridge 2025 international forum

Kazakhstan plans to launch a second supercomputer cluster, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced at the Digital Bridge 2025 international technology forum. The event serves as a key platform for exchanging ideas and advancing initiatives on the future of the digital economy and global transformation—especially as the world enters the era of artificial intelligence. AI is fundamentally reshaping politics, the economy, and the daily lives of billions.  According to analysts, global investments in AI have already surpassed $1 trillion, and its contribution to the global economy could reach $7 trillion over the next decade. President Tokayev emphasized that the foremost priority is the responsible use of AI—only for peaceful purposes.

«At the recent session of the United Nations General Assembly, I confirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to contribute to the work of a global dialogue on AI governance under the auspices of the United Nations. We also welcome the initiatives of our partners, including China’s proposal to create a global organization for AI cooperation,» Tokayev said.

Kazakhstan is developing a unified digital ecosystem. As part of this effort, the country will establish a research university focused on AI and has already launched the International AI Center, Alem.ai. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development will lead the digitalization drive. At the same time, special attention is being given to building a legal framework for AI, making the creation of an effective Digital Code especially critical.

«Every new government service should be designed in digital format from the start. Data provided once should not be requested again. Moreover, all regulations governing state-citizen interaction must undergo mandatory digital review before approval. These measures are intended to reduce excessive bureaucracy for citizens and businesses and strengthen trust in government institutions,» Tokayev added.

The Head of State emphasized that digitalization and the widespread use of neural networks should form a new philosophy of public administration in Kazakhstan. Smart technologies capable of processing and analyzing large volumes of data will also enhance the effectiveness of strategic planning. The forum’s honorary guest, Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok, underscored that AI must be developed with respect for human rights and ethical standards. He also highlighted Kazakhstan’s achievements, noting that in recent decades the country has become a hub of technological development. Starting next year, the forum will be renamed AI Bridge, though its mission will remain unchanged: connecting tech giants and startups, business and science, government and citizens.
